The Burgess Shale

Secrets from the Cambrian Period
Fossils of the Burgess Shale

burgess

The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto launched its most recent virtual exhibit last week, produced in partnership with virtualmuseum.ca and Parks Canada. The Burgess Shale in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, contains a treasure trove of some of the earliest fossils of complex organisms in the world. Visit The Burgess Shale online, and experience what life was like during the Cambrian Explosion, more than half a billion years ago. Take a virtual submarine ride into the Cambrian seas to explore fossil, marine animals and algae and view amazing digital reconstructions.
