NATURAL EUROPE: Use of Natural History and Environmental Cultural Heritage Digital Content for Education
The Summer School will take place at Panormos, Crete, Greece from the 1st to the 6th of July 2012. The host institution will be the University of Crete. The venue will be announced in due course. The course is titled: "NATURAL EUROPE: Use of Natural History and Environmental Cultural Heritage Digital Content for Education", and it is open to science teachers, teacher trainers, museum educators/museum staff and science communicators. The training course aims, at first, to develop the skills of science education teachers and trainers as well as museum personnel, in using the deployed technologies in modes and settings as diverse as a physical museum visit, a virtual tour and surfing over the web and then, to get familiar with specific issues related to their application to technology-enhanced science education. Moreover, it will introduce attendants to social tagging learning objects, educational metadata and learning objects repositories, together with hands-on experiences on practical approaches and tools that are commonly used to support the learning object paradigm.
Participation in this event is funded by the European Commission through the Comenius and Grundtvig programmes; therefore, all interested can simply contact their relevant National Agency. The list of eligible countries (EU members plus Turkey, Croatia, FYROM and Switzerland) and the contact details of the National Agencies can be found here: http://ec.europa.eu/education/lifelong-learning-programme/doc1208_en.htm.
Please note that the deadline for applications for funding is the 14th of January 2012.
EA, in collaboration with University of Crete, is organizing every year summer courses that aim to introduce teachers to the design and implementation of learning scenarios and digital repositories. Have a look to this link: http://www.ea.gr/ep/nature-summerschool/ that describes the activities organized the previous years.
